Writing a love letter to myself feels like a radical act & it's more difficult than you might think. For years, I focused on everyone else—my family, my work, my responsibilities—often forgetting to nurture the most important relationship I have: the one with myself. Now, as I navigate the changes of my clients menopause and perimenopause & of my own, I realize how crucial it is to embrace self-compassion and growth. This letter is my way of honoring my journey, my struggles, and my strength.

Recognizing My Journey Through Change

Menopause and perimenopause brought more than just physical changes. They challenged my sense of identity and self-worth. Weight sneakily started to gain as it slowly crept in despite my best efforts, and I felt frustrated by the shifting balance of my metabolism. I tried countless weight loss solutions, but many felt like quick fixes that didn’t respect my body’s new needs holistically.

I have to remind myself that this phase is not a setback but a transformation. My body is adapting, and I am learning to listen to it with kindness. Instead of fighting the changes, I choose to work with them. Metabolic balance is not just about numbers on a scale but about feeling energized and whole. It has helped me on so many levels.

Embracing Self-Compassion Every Day

Self-compassion means treating myself with the same kindness I offer my loved ones. When I slip up or feel discouraged, I won’t criticize myself harshly. Instead, I will pause and say, “You are doing your best, and that is enough.”

Here are some ways I commit to practicing self-compassion:

  • Speak kindly to myself: Replace negative thoughts with encouraging words.

  • Celebrate small victories: Every healthy meal, every moment of movement counts.

  • Allow rest without guilt: My body needs time to recharge, especially now.

By nurturing this mindset, I create space for growth and healing. I am more than my weight or appearance; I am a whole person deserving of love and respect.

Finding Weight Loss Solutions That Respect My Body

Many weight loss solutions promise quick results but fail to consider the unique challenges women face during menopause and perimenopause. I have learned that sustainable change comes from understanding my body’s needs and working with them. I chose to make it my lifestyle now.

I focus on:

  • Balanced nutrition: Eating whole foods that support metabolic balance.

  • Regular movement: Choosing activities I enjoy, like walking or yoga.

  • Mindful habits: Listening to hunger cues and managing stress.

This approach feels empowering rather than restrictive. It honors my body’s wisdom and supports my well-being.

Growing Through Self-Acceptance

Growth is not just about changing my body but also about expanding my self-acceptance. I am learning to appreciate my strengths, my resilience, and my unique beauty. This journey includes forgiving myself for past mistakes and embracing the present moment fully with kindness & compassion.

Writing this letter helps me see how far I have come. I am proud of my efforts to find balance and peace. I am committed to continuing this path with patience and love.

A Daily Reminder to Myself

Before I close this letter, I want to leave myself with a daily reminder:

You are worthy of love and care, exactly as you are. Your journey through menopause and perimenopause is a testament to your strength. Keep choosing kindness, balance, and growth. You are enough.
